Genuine Community
Residents and members come from varied backgrounds — many are international retirees who have chosen Phuket as their long-term home. The atmosphere is warm and unhurried.
Non-Medical Focus
Chiang Sala is not a care facility. The focus is on independent living, social connection, and daily comfort — allowing residents to move at their own pace.
Local, Fresh Cuisine
Meals are prepared using produce sourced from local markets, reflecting both Thai culinary traditions and the preferences of an international resident community.
Staff Around the Clock
For residential members, non-medical support is available at all hours. Staff are attentive and present without being intrusive, respecting personal boundaries and rhythms.

Things People Often Ask
Is Chiang Sala a medical care facility?
No. Chiang Sala is a non-medical senior living community. We do not provide nursing care, medical supervision, or clinical services. Our focus is on social connection, comfortable accommodation, and the daily rhythms of coastal life. Residents who require medical support arrange that independently.
Do I need to speak Thai to live or participate here?
Not at all. The community is international and English is the primary language used day-to-day. Our staff are comfortable communicating in English, and many current residents have relocated from Europe, Australia, and North America.
Can I bring my own furniture or personal belongings?
Rooms for permanent residents are furnished, but we encourage you to personalise your space with photographs, artwork, plants, or smaller pieces of furniture that matter to you. Making the space feel like home is something we actively support.
Are family members and visitors welcome?
Very much so. We encourage family visits and maintain open visiting hours during the day. For extended visits, we can often accommodate family members in one of our retreat rooms, subject to availability.
What is included in the Coastal Social Club membership?
Members receive access to all weekly gatherings — typically four per month — which include morning walks, craft or cooking sessions, and social evenings. Lunch is provided on activity days. A monthly schedule is shared in advance so members can plan their attendance.
How far in advance do I need to book an Extended Stay?
We ask for at least two weeks' notice to prepare your room and coordinate your arrival. During peak season (November through March), earlier reservations are advisable. We're happy to discuss timing and room preferences directly.
Is there a trial period before committing to permanent residence?
Many people find that an Extended Stay Retreat is a natural way to experience life at Chiang Sala before deciding on a permanent arrangement. Spending a few weeks here gives a genuine sense of the community, the pace, and the staff before any longer commitment is made.
What is the nearest hospital to the community?
Bangkok Hospital Phuket is approximately 20 minutes away by car, and Vachira Phuket Hospital is within similar distance. We are happy to share more detailed information about nearby medical facilities on request.
